What is Powder coating?

Powdercoat is a ceramic finish that uses an electrical current to evenly distribute positively charged particles over the surface of the metal, the metal is then heated in an oven at 350f degrees and the powder liquefies and hardens. This finish is significantly harder than paint, it is used on motorcycle parts, car rims, and other items that are subjected to extreme wear and tear.

Here are some tips:

  • A transparent powder coat does not show up on a saber with a black finish. It may alter the tone a little and add some shine, but the finish will still appear black.
  • Solid powder coat color will fully cover black, standard, or weathered finishes.
  • A transparent powder coat works best on a standard or weathered finish because it will show only on the exposed silver material, leaving the black anodizing unaltered.
  • Please check out the Custom Finishes page for images of our finish options. Keep in mind the parts shown at the bottom of the page are on a part with both black anodizing and silver material showing so that you can see what each powder coat color will cover and to what degree.
  • If you click on the sample images at the bottom of the custom finish page or the blue box within product pages that allow for powder coating, you will be able to see in more detail each option and the color name.
  • Powder coating is applied to the entire saber with the exception of claws and shrouds.
