Building with Adaptive Saber Parts (ASP)
This is what our "Customized" Elite and Apprentice builder pages seek to help with; these pages pull together compatible parts and electronics to help remove any confusion and guesswork for those who are new to our products. Within these pages you have the option of Modular (comes to you in parts) or Fixed assembly (we align and glue the saber to our standards). Building a saber with ASP parts is easy; you just need to know a few nuances*.
If you would like to purchase ASP parts and build your own saber outside of the customized builder pages, please be aware:
- Elite and Apprentice items are different due to the thread pitch.
- Elite builds require four parts: Emitter, switch, body, pommel (Page here)
- Apprentice builds require three parts: Emitter, switch/body (one piece), pommel (Page here)
- To use drop-in cores, Elite builds must use a “Drop-In” switch.
- Yes, you can mix and match between elite and apprentice parts, but you must use an adapter that bridges between the two, found here.
Specific guidance regarding Elite ASP:
Our elite line was designed around legacy electronics that are gradually being discontinued. Meanwhile, our parts and sabers are being updated to work with Drop-in cores. As we transition to updated items that are compatible, please be aware that there are still some items on our site that are not compatible with Drop-in electronics. Below is a list of bodies and emitters that are not compatible; compatibility is due to their length, not internal diameter or socket type. Most build issues related to length can, however, be resolved by stacking two bodies (use an S-coupler in between), or adding a normal coupler between parts to supplement the needed length (like the 01 Male/Female couplers).
Apprentice:
Apprentice items were designed specifically for drop-in electronics; all items in the apprentice ASP section are compatible without any build issues.
Elite Parts with compatibility issues/limitations:
Bodies that are too short:
- Gladius Body
- Redeemer body
- Pathfinder Body
- 17 Body
- Sorcerer Body
- 16 Body
- 12 Body
- 14 Body
Emitters too short:
- Emitter 10
- Epoch Emitter
- Sinister Prophecy emitter
- Exile emitter
- Reborn Emitter
- Gladius Emitter
Emitters and other parts not compatible with Drop in electronics:
- Triple emitters (ie, angled emitter)
- Emitters with thread-in sockets (ie, redeemer emitter)
- Legacy crystal chambers
- All "Legacy Sabers"
Many of these parts will be updated in the coming year to address this issue.
Other Common Questions
Will my saber be put together or glued?
Outside of ordering ASP parts and using our customized builder pages, all other sabers offered on our site are glued together to preserve the classic aesthetics of Saber Forge. If one is seeking items that can be taken apart, orders must be ASP parts or "Modular" where allowed on our site. If we do not offer "modular" or an item as a part in our ASP section, we do not provide it in parts or disassembled.
How can I tell if the emitter will work?
Every page lists within the specification box what type of socket a saber or emitter has. Drop-in cores require a "Standard socket".
